Toppel’s mission is to help students and alumni develop career-related skills by providing high quality resources, services, programming and events that will prepare them for a lifetime of career success. They offer services to current students and graduates to help prepare them for their career search, build their resumes, network, find post-doc opportunties and more. Esther is a Miami native and a University of Miami alum. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami and a Master of Education from the University of Georgia. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Esther worked to advance leadership education and development at the Illinois Leadership Center on the University of Illinois campus. Currently, she primarily works with graduate students and alumni populations.


Resume Reviews and Interview Coaching

Our Director, Charles Lowman, will be offering assistance with resume / CV reviews and interview coaching. Prior to UM, he worked at Vanderbilt University in an HR role, he has reviewed literally thousands of resumes / CVs and conducted hundreds of job interviews as an employer. He is happy to provide expertise to any of you who may be interested.

Did you know that OGPS offers free professional headshots for any graduate faculty, student or postdoc in need?. We recognize the need to have a professional-grade headshot for dissertation defense announcements, LinkedIn profiles, etc.

Mentorship

Your best connection for your career search will be your faculty mentors and peer students. It is important to discuss your career aspirations and network in the years before making a career choice.

In addition to your faculty mentor, students will be assigned to mentoring groups to help prepare and develop their career paths. We also offer many workshops throughout the year so be sure to make note and attend!
